What is a Dental Emergency?
Emergencies don’t wait, and neither do we. We’re here to provide prompt care when you need it most.
Are you wondering if this is a dental emergency? Here are some common examples of situations requiring immediate attention. Don't hesitate to call us to schedule an appointment as soon as possible to receive the care you need.
-
Lost Fillings or Crowns
Try to locate any broken or lost fillings or crowns. Call our office as soon as possible to arrange an appointment to have it fixed.
-
Chipped or Broken Teeth
Do you have a broken or chipped tooth? Try to find the missing piece, place it in a clean container, and bring it to your appointment. Your dentist may be able to reattach it. Whether you find the piece or not, call our office right away to schedule an appointment and have your tooth repaired.
-
Knocked-Out Teeth
If a tooth is knocked out, gently rinse it with water, holding it by the crown (not the root). If possible, place it back into the socket and bite down gently to keep it in place.
If reinserting the tooth isn’t possible, keep it moist by placing it in a glass of milk or holding it in your mouth until you reach the clinic.
Apply a cold compress to the cheek near the affected area to help reduce pain and swelling.
Go to the clinic as soon as possible and call ahead if you can. The faster treatment begins, the better the chances of saving the tooth.
-
Swelling, Pain or Discomfort
Have you noticed sudden, significant swelling in your face, mouth, or neck? Are you experiencing intense pain or discomfort in or around your mouth?
Call us as soon as possible and follow these steps to relieve the pain while you wait:
- Apply a cold compress to the painful area of your cheek.
- Take an over-the-counter pain reliever to ease the pain.
- Gently rinse the affected area with salt water to remove debris.
Our dentists will quickly assess your condition, diagnose the cause of the pain and propose a treatment plan.
